Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. She is an American stage and film actress. Her most famous role is in the role of Teri an ardent attorney Teri Jospehson, on the Showtime television series Soul Food. When she got married, she changed her name to Nikki Kodjoe. As a child within Baltimore, Maryland, she was always intrigued by acting. When she participated in an Maryland high school contest during her first years of education she received the award for the best actress. After working in theater as well as 'The Washington Ballet Company' she received a master's degree in acting from 'New York University. There was a lot of praise for her first major performance on The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. After that, she appeared in movies like "Boogie Nights Spark" as well as "Blue Streak". The TV show Soul Food' was immensely loved. In addition, she has appeared on TV series like Second Time Around" and Empire. In the beginning of her career she was a part of a number of stage productions. Contractor Born from Mumbai in India, was raised in Nigeria from the time she was seven. She had already experienced many different travels and different cultures at a very early age. She attended boarding school in London between seven and nine years of age, and then her family moved to Toronto, Canada, where she lived for the bulk of her childhood and young adulthood. Contractor trained and eventually became a dancer of classical style in Toronto. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts, a high school for the arts that was specifically designed to be a school where she was able to study more than just dance but also theater. Contractor decided to take acting more seriously at the age of 16 following almost 10 years dancing. When she graduated from high-school, she was offered a full scholarship for tuition to University of Toronto where she studied theatre with a double diploma in sociology and psychology. Contractor landed her first role following her first year at university. Her performance received rave reviews. her work during the 92 performances that the play was voted as the best production by Canadian critics in 2002. She was given the chance to join Stratford Conservatory. It accepts only eight men and four women to take a course in traditional theatre. Contractor eagerly accepted. Contractor's spot was assured during the upcoming season of shows, and she landed Hermia's role in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
